Spring Hair Trends and Color Care Tips

Spring Hair Trends and Color Care Tips

It's that time of year that we look at the new hair colors trending in Hollywood from our favorite celebrities and social media it-girls to see what's next on the horizon! From beautiful and amazing balayage, mermaid hair, new pastel colors, and even a different side of Ombré, Spring is inspiring some major hair changes.

These tips and trend reports from industry-leading colorists will help you achieve the best results while showing your clients how to maintain their new look with the OSTIA products!

1. Chocolate Cherry
If you or a client has had previously dyed your hair a variation of red at home, this may be a fitting shade to try since "most hair will have a hard time lifting past red, so this makes it a better fighting chance for an achievable look," says Chicago-based colorist Lorena Martinez of Maxine Salon. To maintain the hue, she recommends using a shampoo and conditioner specially formulated for color-treated hair.

2. Expensive Brunette

Expensive brunette hair color is about embracing your natural hair color but with a few small enhancements,  on adding dimension, shine, and hair health. It’s essentially the salon-quality version of rocking your roots. To keep the high-shine finish in your hair, try at-home gloss treatments like our 3-in-1 Mist.

3. Pastel Tips

Pastel tones will never go out of style in spring, but this year we are focusing on highlighting the brighter colors found at our ends. "Statement color has been on trend for the past year," explains Cassie Siskovic, national artistic director for Alfaparf Milano. "Transitioning to spring, we'll see similar placements creating bold pops of color, but with pastel shades rather than vibrant ones."

4. Vanilla Blonde

According to a TikTok that amassed over 1M likes, the perfect hair color for summer 2022 is "vanilla almond butter"! Vanilla almond butter is your hair color's secret weapon for creating a cool, icy blonde and rich, multi-dimensional tone. Vanilla almond butter blonde is a mix of dark, nutty tones at the roots, golden, neutral, and icy highlights throughout the mid-lengths, and a mix of darker, nutty, and golden tones towards the ends. Maintain your blondes with our Blonde Shampoo and Conditioner, which helps neutralize yellow, brassy tones to make your color cool and sleek.

5. 60s Copper/Penny

Pretty Penny, a copper color, is a hot trend for spring 2022, as the reds in this hue go well with the sunlight and warmth of the season. Matt Swinney, global creative director at RUSK, recommends using a three-step routine (i.e., shampoo, conditioner, and leave-in conditioner) that moisturizes hair while preventing color from fading. This helps promote overall healthy locks!
